"The For Carnation " (2000, Touch and Go)
There it is again, the voice of Brian McMahan. The early nineties, he sang with the indie legend Slint, but they were in 1991 already history. Then created the creative mind behind some years later, his dark bluesy solo project, whose recordings of musicians also like Tortoise, Shipping News, and his old bandmates, participated. But all played here and they always play a subordinate role. McMahan lived through six diverse songs the black solitude of the songwriter, as he stood all alone in a darkened ring - the only lights directed only at him.
